Types of Pond Liners

Defined Tag:
A pond is a pleasant addition to any backyard, front yard, or garden. It provides an enchanting look to the home. Traditionally, the bottom of the pond is filled with some kind of clay or rock to prevent too much water seeping. In places where these kinds of sediments are not available, pond liners can be used as the floor of the pond.

Pond liners are available in two main variations. A rigid pond liner has a static shape and size. In order to install these kinds of pond liners all you need to do is dig a hole that is the same shape and size of the liner. Rigid pond liners usually come with the necessary holes for the pump and any electrical lines that are needed. This kind of pond liner is good for using because you do not have to put much work into planning the pond. Since the pond liner is already formed, there is not much flexibility in the shape and size of the pond.

The second kind of pond liner is the flexible liner. These kinds of pond liners allow more creativity in the design of the pond. The flexible liner can be purchased according to thickness, which is important to ensure that roots do not puncture holes into the liner. Decide the location of the pond as well as how long, wide, and deep you would like for your pond to be. Next you will need to dig a hole that the size and shape you wish. After the soil has been removed and a hole is created, place the liner in the hole and fill it with water. Place rocks on the excess liner around the edges of the pond to hold the liner in place.

The type of pond liner that you use will depends on the amount of flexibility you would like in determining the shape and size of your pond. For more creativity with the pond, the flexible liner is the best choice.
